Our business partner – Q Cells

Published: 25 May 2021

At Nectr, we use solar panels manufactured by Q Cells because they’re one of the world’s leading solar panel manufacturers.

Q Cells is one of the top solar panel manufacturers in the world. The company was founded in 1999 in Germany, and acquired by the Hanwha Group from South Korea in 2010. Q Cells is currently in the Tier 1 solar manufacturer list from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, which means their solar panels are trusted by banks and other financial institutions.

Q Cells developed their own solar cell technology, which is called Q.ANTUM. This technology captures a larger amount of the sunlight reaching solar cells. As a result, Q Cells has developed some of the most efficient solar panels in the industry. The company has already produced over 1 billion Q.ANTUM cells, with a total capacity of over 5 million watts (5 gigawatts).

So far, Q Cells has set two world records in the solar industry. They developed the most efficient polycrystalline solar cell in 2011, and the most efficient solar panel in 2015. Q Cells was providing 10% of all solar panels used in Australia by 2018.

Advantages of using solar panels from Q Cells

Solar panels from Q Cells exceed industry standards, thanks to major investments in research and development. A solar cell cannot convert all the sunlight received into electricity, since a large portion is reflected or converted to heat. However, Q Cells uses an innovative design to improve the conversion of sunlight.

Q Cells also applies some of the most rigorous tests in the industry, to ensure durability, safety and high performance. Their solar panels come with an energy production warranty that exceeds the typical conditions of the industry:

  • Most solar panel brands offer 80% productivity after 25 years of operation, while Q Cells offers 85%. Their solar panels produce more electricity over time, compared with competing brands, even if the wattage is equal.
  • Q Cells also offers a 12-year warranty against material defects and workmanship issues.

Any solar panels that fail while covered by the warranty are replaced for free. Solar power has a payback period of less than five years, which means the investment is recovered long before the warranty ends. However, your solar panel system must be installed by a qualified provider like Nectr to make the warranty valid.

At Nectr, we work with Q.MAXX-G2 and Q.PEAK DUO-G6+ solar panels from Q Cells, and both use monocrystalline solar cells. The Q.MAXX-G2 product line offers generation capacities from 345 to 360 watts, while the Q.PEAK DUO -G6+ line has capacities from 340 to 355 watts. Using these product lines from Q-Cells, an home installation with 20 solar panels can achieve between 6,800 and 7,200 watts of capacity.
